Job Title: Head Chef

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Shift Pattern: Typically starting at 7:00 AM and finishing around 3:00 PM

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will oversee the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals for a mass catering operation, serving approximately 1200 covers within a 24-hour period. The role requires excellent culinary skills, strong leadership, and the ability to maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
Modify and create new menus that meet quality standards
Supervise kitchen staff and assist as needed
Estimate food requirements and manage inventory
Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen
Monitor and ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the recipes, portioning, cooking, and serving standards
Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement strategies for efficient service and cost control
Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and equipment to ensure compliance with health regulations
Train and develop kitchen staff to ensure consistent performance and adherence to culinary standards
Qualifications and Skills:

Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role in mass catering
Culinary school diploma or equivalent qualification
Strong leadership and management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
Familiarity with industry’s best practices
Valid driving license preferred
